Ignis Avis by Kaiser-Conti Ignis Avis by Kaiser-Conti
Alternative title "4 rounds per minute damn ye eyes!"

Done as a gift. In the pic a lovely bunch of redcoats from the most jolly regiment ol' England has ever known (that probably the reason for sending it to fight the Frenchies): Corporal Jack, private Filip and a lady in disguise, private Judy aka Murphy. And above them all, the mysterious Firebird ;) what's with the birdy title? Is a secret, i can only tell that one day you might see them lot in bookstores (I keep my fingers crossed for that! n beg for a free copy with an autograph haha)

This time I've tried a more subtle colouring, other than my usual "Plastic-fantastic" crap. I'm particularly proud of the different shades of white that can be seen (gaiters, facings, hat lace, shirts) and particularly pissed about how the guns turned out.

First rule of DevArt titles: Latin sounds smarter!

- some German battle of Minden map
- firebird pic found on the internet, I'd have credited the author, but no info could be found by me on him/her, it looked like an illustration from a Russian book for kids.

You... you... thiiiiiis! :woohoo:
And you worried about at least one of them being recognisable; they're just perfectly themselves, the three most improbable heroes England will ever line up on the battlefield and the birdie :D
Seriously, I love it too much to put it in words (big compliment coming from a verbose writer, mind ya  ). Expect an autographed free copy like there's no tomorrow.

me...me...that...what? ;)

Well yeah, I was especially worried how to portray Judy. Firstly because I rather avoid drawing women :D secondly that I chose a more difficult option: to make her appearance as boyish as possible, but without blurring her feminine traits at the same time.

And ooooh goodie goodie, a book fer me! :D

Btw I feel obliged to ask, as they're your characters: do you find it acceptable to contribute this pic to the other groups I'm in?

Hah, you portrayed our resident soldier girl very well, I say! That look as if she just wants to smash the ramrod on Jack's head is priceless, btw

Just hope you won't mind the book shall be written in Italian (well, with the occasional French, English and German thrown in for good measure) =P

Sure, go ahead! Permission granted :D

nuh-ah-ah Judy, he's your superior, remember! Just look at Filipp, now there's a docile private spirit that this army requires xD

D'oooh that's not good news... but we shall overcome obstacles...we always do :fuzzydemon: and you know, I've always thought judging by your stories in English and MoW posts that your novel deserves having an English version!

Yay! thanks!

That might be the real reason why the poor girl gets a crush on Fil; even a Russian comes off as less bossy and abrasive as Jack :giggle:

Oh my, now you flatter. So much.

hahaha, someone doesn't fit stereotypes eh? don't ye worry Filipp, I'm not a mustachioed drunk that brandishes his sword around and charges cannons at Somosierra in extremely tight breeches either xD think of the 'compensation' that loads her gun next to you ;D

naw, it's no flattery, I've been reading some redcoatish books for some time already and you don't need to feel inferior, nay!
