HMS Agincourt

The Agincourt class battleships (consisting of HMS Agincourt, HMS Poitiers, HMS Crecy and HMS Black Prince ) are the strongest ships in the entire Royal Navy, and a response for the German vessels -SMS Baden and SMS Bayern. They are also the most bizzare vessels in the Navy- they have 12 turrets of the main calibre installed on them!

Nevertheless they still are considered by the British as the most "British" ships of all vessels in the entire navy (First lord of the Admiralty even laughed that they are more British than Britain herself )

The project was kept in a deep secret and the first two british vessels were almost done when suddenly the French fleet gained a new battleship of the Bienfaiteur class ( [link] ). that monster held an incredible firepower. It was a real strike for the British pride. ( 3 years earlier the French launched their huge space base -> [link] )

the First Lord of the Admiralty , ambitious lord George Hamilton demanded serious improvements in te currently built ships to surpass also the French giant Adacieux, but the war budget didn't have enough money to include all of Hamilton's ideas...instead of increasing the calibre of the guns , the War office decided to increase te number of turrets on those ships..This was the beginning of the new bizarre battleship class...

when they were ready to "launch" the prime minister demanded to give them names that the French could easily find offensive, and understand that Royal Navy won't resign from it's position. the French ambassador was kindly invited on the ceremony. all guest were astonished by the size of the giant battleships including the German ambassador ( he even said that if the British still launch such enormous ships ,then soon in Germany there won't be any bicycle - the only thing made of iron and steel will be battleships of the Imperial Fleet)

soon Queen Victoria baptized the new ships. They received names : Agincourt, and Crecy after the English victories in the Hundread years war. when the French ambassador heard those names he went completely mad and left the ceremony.
